A Psalm of Spring

The Holy Spirit in the soft caresses

Of the breeze, the breeze like a mother's soaring wings

Wings bearing love

Wings extending mercy

Wings offering unconditional acceptance

The Lord's kisses are warm like the sun

His embraces as sweet as the flowers of spring

O'Lord, bring me out of this winter

So I may feel your spring,

Bask in your redeeming love

Lord, I ask you to guide me to your waters

Let me drink of your fountain

The fountain of grace

You are faithful to your servants, O'Lord

You will bring me out of this frost

This desolate place will not me my end

This dessert will not witness my final days

You will bring your spring

Grass will shoot up anew

Green as your promises

Waiting is only manageable in your endurance

Grant this endurance to me

So that I, your humble servant, may see the light you will bring forth in season

And eat of the fruit you will spring forth

Anew out of the dust of the ground

Out of the ashes of my crumbling life

My burning ships

My falling towers

You will build these things anew, O'Lord

You will restore to me twofold all you took away

For you O'Lord are a God who gives and takes away

O'Lord you are a God of compassion

And on me bestow this

I ask in my waiting your protection

Strike down my enemies in their destructive attempts

Disarm the starting voices

Lead them not to my ear

So I may not be led astray

Hush the voices of the lies

Close my eyes to evil deeds

Shush my mouth to keep me from shame

Lead me to wisdom

Grant me grace in my hypocrisy

Give me peace in my anxiety

And let your love shine through me as evidence of my faith

I ask these things in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and forevermore shall be, world without end. Amen.
